*There is controversy surrounding these attics and their actual designers.

Gilbert Gold's hang tag does not have a designer credit printed on the back, leading us to assume that he should be considered a Ty Warner design.  The 1993 Ty catalog does not credit Linda Harris as the designer, and the Collectibles Corner on the Ty website (which is no longer accessible) listed Ty Warner as the artist who designed Gilbert Gold.    However, the 1994 and 1995 Ty catalogs list Ms. Harris as the designer.  In addition, Ms. Harris states that she is the designer of Gilbert Gold in an interview conducted by Mary Catherine Cochran and Terri Siegel (Beanie Mania, April/May, 1999). Gilbert was copyrighted on two different dates. The first time he was copyrighted, on January 22, 1993, no designer was listed. When he was copyrighted on January 13, 1994, however, Linda Harris was listed as his designer.

Gilbert White has always been a mystery to collectors.  He is one of only four Attic Treasures™ to never appear in a Ty Catalog or flyer.  Originally it was believed that a Gilbert Gold hang tag was erroneously attached to a white bear intended for Nicholas. Linda Harris laid this rumor to rest in the same interview mentioned above by stating that Gilbert White and Nicholas were separate designs, and that she was also the designer of Gilbert White.  Gilbert White's hang tag also credits Ms. Harris as the designer.

Henry Brown is universally believed to be a Ruth Fraser design.  The hang tag on first generation Henrys credit Ms. Fraser as his designer, as do the 1994 and 1995 Ty Catalogs.  Henry was copyrighted on January 22, 1993 as a Fraser design. Ms. Fraser has never denied credit for designing Henry Brown, as she has with other attics erroneously credited to her.  The Collectibles Corner of the Ty website, however, listed Ty Warner as the artist who designed Henry Brown. In addition, Henry’s fifth generation hang tags do not credit Fraser.

Even though Jeremy and Sara’s hang tags never credited a designer, they were first produced with red and white artist tush tags which read, “Designed by Linda Harris.” Despite this error, both are believed to be Ty Warner creations.

Most sites credit Ty Warner as the designer of Nicholas, including the Collectibles Corner of the Ty website.   However, most information we have gathered points to Linda Harris as his designer.  Nicholas' first generation hang tags credit Ms. Harris, as do the 1994 and 1995 Ty catalogs. Nicholas was copyrighted on January 13, 1994 as a Harris design. In addition, Harris has claimed Nicholas as her design. Nicholas’ fifth generation hang tags, however, do not list a designer credit.

The back of Reggie's hang tag does not credit a designer, as is the case with the 1993 catalog.  However, the 1994 and 1995 Ty catalogs credit Ruth Fraser as his designer.  Linda Sigrist, who interviewed Ms. Fraser, reports in the August 1999 issue of Mary Beth's Bean Bag World the following:  "There is an error in some publications and also on the Internet.  Ruth Fraser did not design Reggie; Ty designed this bear."  Since Frederick is a carbon copy of Reggie, and some Fredericks have been proven to be "recycled" Reggies, we assumed Ty Warner to be Frederick's designer as well. Reggie was copyrighted on January 22, 1993 with no designer credit. On January 13, 1994, however, Reggie was copyrighted as a Ruth Fraser design.
